June 30, 2025 - July 13, 2025
The purpose of the no-contact period (dead period) is to allow students and coaches a break from athletics, to allow families a timeframe for vacation that will not interfere with their children's athletics, and most importantly, to ensure that all athletes, especially three-sport athletes, are afforded some downtime.
Pertinent CIFCS Bylaws: 3303. Season of Sport Periods
A. No Contact Period (Dead Period): Each school’s sports teams will choose two consecutive seven (7) day dead periods during the summer as defined in Bylaw 3303.D (from the first weekend after Memorial Day weekend until the first day of fall practice). The dead period dates will be published by the district and/or site. The use of outside agencies is not allowed to circumvent this period.
D. Summer: The Central Section will be “dark” from the first weekend after Memorial Day weekend until the first day of fall practices. Therefore, all activities during this time shall be under the authority of each school district, except for rules passed by the Board of Managers. This does not include CIF regional, or state playoffs still being conducted.
